Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency
A Letter from the Program Director
Come and learn about medicine in the mountains! I’m Dr. Jonathan Piercy, Program Director of the ARH Internal Medicine Residency Program based in Whitesburg and Harlan, KY. We have been in operation since July 2019 and our second class of residents started in July 2020.
With six residents per class split between our two sites, we offer a broad exposure to all aspects of medicine with a focus on our rural home. Our dedicated core faculty and our community partners work closely with our residents to help them become the best doctors they can be. With state of the art facilities and comprehensive specialty clinics, ARH provide all the amenities of modern medical practice while our small communities let us build relationships with our patients like a small town doctor.
The Internal Medicine residency program is closely affiliated with Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM), where residents and faculty enjoy enhanced learning resources, support, and library access through LMU-DCOM”.
As a native of eastern Kentucky with a long career in medical education, I believe that our region offers endless opportunity for the curious young physician. Whether your career plans include outpatient medicine, hospital work, or a subspecialty, you’ll find patients, co-workers, and mentors who can get you ready to take on anything.
So if you’re looking for a place to do your internal medicine residency, we’d love to meet you!
Regards,
Dr. Jonathan Piercy, MD, FACP
