Creating Pathways to Healthcare Careers

ARH is committed to developing the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing meaningful opportunities for students and community members to explore healthcare careers through hands-on learning, clinical experience, and structured training programs. Participants gain firsthand exposure to a variety of healthcare professions, work alongside experienced team members, and develop valuable workplace skills while discovering potential career paths.

Career Observation

For individuals age 14 and older, ARH offers career observation opportunities that allow participants to shadow healthcare professionals and explore various departments and roles within our facilities. Observers gain an inside look at the healthcare environment without engaging in direct patient care — making it a great first step for students considering a future in healthcare.

Internships

ARH provides internship opportunities for individuals age 16 and older who are enrolled in accredited high school or college programs, or who are seeking practical work experience in a healthcare setting. We offer both clinical and non-clinical internships across a wide range of departments, giving participants the flexibility to explore the area of healthcare that aligns with their interests and goals.

Clinical Internships

  • Nursing
  • Medical Laboratory
  • Respiratory
  • Radiology
  • PT/OT
  • Pharmacy

Non-Clinical Internships

  • IT
  • Marketing & Communications
  • Human Resources
  • Accounting
  • Workforce Initiatives
  • Healthcare Administration

Interns work alongside experienced team members, engage in educational activities aligned with their program, and develop real-world workplace skills that prepare them for long-term career success.

Registered Apprenticeships & Workforce Partnerships

ARH offers registered apprenticeship programs for individuals age 18 and older. These programs are developed in partnership with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), which provides the required classroom instruction hours, and are registered through the Kentucky Department of Labor. Apprentices receive structured, on-the-job training alongside formal education — building the skills and credentials needed for long-term career success in high-demand fields.

Program Requirements

All participants in ARH experiential education programs are required to complete an orientation and onboarding process, sign a confidentiality agreement, and complete HIPAA training prior to participation. Participants 18 and older are subject to background checks and drug screenings. Parental or guardian consent is required for all participants under 18. All participants must wear ARH-issued identification while on-site.
